Be the First in History to Ride Led Zeppelin Less Than 24 Hours to Bid
Be the first in history to ride the new Led Zeppelin themed roller coaster in support of Rock My World Children’s Village.
MYRTLE BEACH, April 7th, 2008 – Auctionwire, in conjunction with Rock My World Children’s Village and Hard Rock Park announced today the overwhelming response and interest in what has been a new direction for the company; an experience aimed at roller coaster enthusiasts, fans of classic rocks biggest band and those who want to make history.
With an auction that began on March 31st and continues through April 7th, Auctionwire is currently auctioning 15 individual tickets for the first ride on the inaugural run of the Led Zeppelin – The Ride.
A joint creative connection between Hard Rock Park and legendary guitarist Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin – The Ride was conceived to give Led Zeppelin fans the ultimate amusement park experience.
Each prize pack to be bid on in this one-of-a-kind auction includes a seat on the coasters very first ride, a signed Led Zeppelin poster and commemorative certificate declaring the riders place in history. The rider will also have his or her ride forever commemorated with a photo taken at the event. To make the auction even more exciting one winning bidder will ride next to Steven Goodwin Hard Rock Park CEO who will also match the winning bidders bid and double the donation.
Only sixteen individual seats are available for auction in this highly anticipated maiden voyage of the bands flagship roller coaster. The auction, which is taking place on eBay, is being held exclusively by Auctionwire. Bidders may visit www.auctionwire.com/hardrockpark to bid. The auction began on March 31, 2008 and ends on April 7,2008. Due to unprecedented interest the company is urging participants to get their bids in early.
Led Zeppelin – The Ride, named by Jimmy Page, will also feature the Zeppelin smash-hit “Whole Lotta Love” which was selected for the ride by Jimmy himself. The bands hit will be pumped out on the coasters powerful 64 speakers, generating 1200 watts of music as the coaster hurtles the screaming rider down its ¾ mile long track at speeds hitting 65 mph.
The ride itself features 6 inversions and reaches an apex of a 155 foot climb and descent, before riders are taken through a 120 foot tall loop, a 95 foot tall cobra roll, and even experience weightlessness in a 75 foot zero G roll. The ride traverses a large part of Hard Rock Park, in places taking riders racing over the water. The designers also pushed the envelope by making the coaster as tall as the Federal Aviation Administration will allow in the country.
This unique experience, slated for April, will also allow riders to get a sneak-peek into what the Hard Rock Park will offer visitors, ahead of its June grand opening. The 50-acre rock ‘n’ roll theme park will feature individually themed music environments to cater to music fans diverse tastes. All flavours of rock will be represented, from American to British, through the 70’s to present day.
Along with Led Zeppelin - The Ride, Hard Rock Park will also boast four other roller coasters amidst a wide variety of other ride experiences, ranging from a full water park, bumper cars and racing games and many areas for the kids. A rock and roll park would not be complete without music, with Hard Rock Park featuring exactly that: a 10,000 seat amphitheatre which will showcase live daily shows and special concerts.
About Rock My World Children’s Village: Working with hundreds of established charities from across America - Rock My World Children's Village will provide a once-in-a-lifetime cost-free experience for young people to visit "The World’s First Rock 'n' Roll Theme Park" at the heart of "America's Beach Playground" where they can live, learn, play and grow within the Rock My World Village.

| Famed project7ten “Eco-home” for Sale on eBay Selected for Educational Network TV “Green Living” Series
As it attracts interest on eBay, project7ten becomes a “Hollywood
star educator” after being chosen by Discovery Channel
for a new, green-lifestyle television show
TORONTO, January 7, 2008 - Project7ten Eco-House, up for
auction on eBay only until January 14th, will soon be the
location for an exciting new show on Discovery's Planet Green.
The new series will feature an eclectic group of celebrities,
journalists, authors, athletes, activists and renowned chefs
who will come together to discuss all things “green”.
The auction of the famed Project7ten LEED Platinum home,
launched by the online auction agency Auctionwire as the first-ever
worldwide online auction of an eco-home on eBay, started on
December 15, 2007 at 9:PM PST (USA) and is set to end on January
14, 2008 at 9: PM PST.
The starting auction price of $2.85 million may sound like
a lot of “GREEN”, but the buyer will actually
get a lot more “GREEN” than one would expect.
One of only a few LEED Platinum Certified homes in the country
(the highest rating of a “green” nature of a building),
project7ten was built to serve as an educational model that
creates a forum for smart discussion about environmental awareness.
The buyer gets a free 18-month lease on a Ford Escape Hybrid
and now a little fame in Hollywood.
This new, eco-home, with 3 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, is
located in ultra-hip Venice, California where many celebrities
live. The home appreciation rate in the county area where
project7ten is located is 23.4% versus the national average
of 12.3%. The house is fully furnished with beautifully-designed,
environmentally-conscious furnishings from leading companies
such as Modern Outdoor, Knoll Textiles, Steelcase, and Viesso
(see more comprehensive list on auction website). Builder
Tom Schey, environmentalist Kelly Meyer, and designer Melinda
Gray (of Grey Matter Architecture) recently completed project7ten
as one of the most environmentally friendly homes in California.
Featured in the “Enlightened Development” exhibition
at Los Angeles’ Architecture and Design Museum and it
was open for educational tours before being put on the market.
The benefits of solar panels highlighted by actor/activist
Ian McKellen coupled with the viewing of Al Gore’s film
“An Inconvenient Truth” spearheaded Tom Schey
to develop project7ten.
The home uses solar panels, high-performance windows and
insulation, and recycled and renewable materials. Green features
include a rainwater reclamation system and grey water recycling,
locally-sourced sustainable materials, recycled content countertops
and insulation, FSC-certified lumber, rooftop solar panels,
native landscaping for shading, Energy Star appliances, and
Kohler water-efficient fixtures. A portion of the sale of
project7ten is being donated to Healthy Child Healthy World
(HCHW), an organization dedicated to educating the public
about environmental toxins that affect children’s health
Project7ten is so eco-hip that celebs like Cindy Crawford,
Pierce Brosnan, John Cusack, David Duchovny, Tobey Maguire,
Laird Hamilton, Gabrielle Reece, Kevin Connolly, Esai Morales,
Laura Dern, and Josie Maran and Ed Begley Jr. have checked
it out, with many attending the house opening party.

| Sold to the Greenest Bidder
Around the country, those in the green building biz have
been showcasing their projects, turning them from regular
old model homes into
role model homes. Homeowners and builders make Web sites,
brochures, even 3D models of their creations not just to sell
a product or self-promote, but to show others what green building
looks like and how to do it (see my earlier entry on the Concept
House). They invite the general public to peruse the premises
and even hold high school science or design classes inside.
Oh, and sometimes, if they get enough publicity they get free
stuff, too.
Enter the next level of role model home, and the publicity
that surrounds it: project7ten, a soon-to-be LEED-Platinum
project just finished in Venice, California. Tom Schey, a
chiseled-faced fellow who is both a developer and real estate
developer, partnered with Kelly Meyer, wife of Ron (Universal
Studio’s COO), to create Project7ten after hearing Ian
McKellen wax enthusiastic about his solar panels—functioning
perfectly in gloomy old London—on the Bill Maher show.
This home was intended to speak to McKellen’s fellow
Hollywood eco-elite, just in case Leo’s and Daryl’s
places didn’t inspire enough.
On the home’s website
you can take a virtual tour of solar panels and gray water
systems, link to environmental charities or see stills of
Pierce Brosnan and David Duchovny posing before a smoke-free
fireplace that burns denatured alcohol. The hope is that their
celebrity will attract both builder and buyers, and coach
others in such tony neighborhoods to jump on the green building
bandwagon. Um…and…they need someone to buy the
place, too.
But they’re not just letting Century 21 brokers go
around hocking the thing in their mustard colored blazers.
The house went up for auction on eBay
on December 14, a selling method Schey chose for maximum splash.
“In order to succeed as an education tool, we need the
most publicity,” he said. Bidding will begin at $2.85
million, which Schey said was reasonable for a 3,900-square
foot high modern house, close to the beach and with, that’s
not all folks, a new car! A Ford Escape hybrid comes parked
in the driveway.
Schey won’t be making a profit off it—or much
of one, he says. After he recoups his expenses, the remaining
profits will be donated to a variety of environmental charities
including the Natural Resources Defense Council and the Permacity
Foundation.

Project7ten To Be The First Ever Famed Los Angeles Certified
"ECO-HOME" To Be Sold On eBay
Developers of famed project7ten home team up with Auctionwire
to offer worldwide eBay buyers a unique Platinum Certified
eco-home admired by Hollywood Celebrities.
Toronto (PRWEB) December 12, 2007 -- Auctionwire online auction
agency announces today that it will launch the first-ever
worldwide online auction of an eco-home called project7ten
on eBay, starting on December 15, 2007 at 9:PM PST (USA) and
ending January 14, 2008 at 9: PM PST.
The starting auction price of $2.85 million may sound like
a lot of "GREEN", but the ultimate buyer will actually
get a lot more "GREEN" than one would expect in
a house purchase. One of only a few LEED Platinum Certified
homes in the country, project7ten was built as green as possible
to serve as an educational model that creates a forum for
smart discussion about environmental awareness.
This new eco-home is located in the ultra-hip area of Venice,
California where many celebrities have been building new homes.
The house is certified LEED PLATINIUM, the highest rating
of a "green" nature of a building. As a joint project
between builder Tom Schey and environmentalist Kelly Meyer,
and designed by Melinda Gray, founder of Grey Matter Architecture,
the recently completed project7ten is one of the most environmentally
friendly homes in California. The home was featured in the
"Enlightened Development" exhibition at Los Angeles'
Architecture and Design Museum and was then open for educational
tours before its developer, Tom Schey, put it on the market.
It was an acknowledgment on the benefits of solar panels by
actor and activist Ian McKellen coupled with the viewing of
Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" that spearheaded
Tom Schey into action. He began conceiving different ways
in which he could broadly educate society about reaching environmentally
conscious choices in their everyday lives, while leaving an
indelible mark and message on our planet. And so project7ten
was born.
Project7ten is so eco-hip that celebs like Cindy Crawford,
Pierce Brosnan, John Cusack, David Duchovny, Tobey McGuire,
Laird Hamilton, Gabrielle Reece, Kevin Connolly, Esai Morales,
Laura Dern, and Josie Maran and Ed Begley Jr. have all checked
it out, with many of these celebrities attending the private
house opening party.
The home uses solar panels, high-performance windows and
insulation, and recycled and renewable materials. Some key
green features include a rainwater reclamation system and
grey water recycling, locally-sourced sustainable materials,
recycled content countertops and insulation, FSC-certified
lumber, rooftop solar panels, native landscaping for shading,
Energy Star appliances, and Kohler water-efficient fixtures.
The buyer of this unique home will likely "feel good"
for several reasons. With the purchase of this property offering
a healthier environment, the buyer will get a free 18-month
lease on a Ford Escape Hybrid. In addition, a portion of the
sale of project7ten is being donated to Healthy Child Healthy
World (HCHW), an organization dedicated to educating the public
about environmental toxins that affect children's health.
For more information on this home visit the project website.

| Terry Fox Foundation to Auction Replica Shoes Signed by 12 World-Class Athletes
Thursday, August 23, 2007
- All Profits from Sales Donated to Cancer Research -
TORONTO, Aug. 23 /CNW/ - The Terry Fox Foundation today
announced plans for a celebrity auction in which 12 pairs
of 25th Anniversary Terry Fox
Limited Edition Replica Shoes, signed by 12 world-class athletes,
will be
auctioned on eBay starting on August 31. All proceeds from
the sales of the
shoes will be donated directly to cancer research.

"Terry believed the Marathon of Hope was an athletic
accomplishment and
nothing made him smile more than when he received the 1980
Lou Marsh Award," said Darrell Fox, National Director
of The Terry Fox Foundation, and Terry's younger brother.
"We are thrilled to have 12 world-class athletes
participating in this unique initiative and paying tribute
to both Terry's
athletic achievements and his dream of one day finding a cure
for cancer."
The signed 25th Anniversary Terry Fox Limited Edition Replica
Shoes
feature the signatures of Muhammad Ali, one of the greatest
athletes of all
time and a personal inspiration to Terry Fox, and 11 great
Canadian athletes
including Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, Cindy Klassen, Kurt
Browning, Mike Weir, Donovan Bailey, Larry Walker, Bobby Orr,
Gordie Howe, Silken Laumann and Catriona LeMay Doan. Each
athlete has signed one stripe on each pair of the replica
shoes.
"It is such an honour to have been asked by The Terry
Fox Foundation to
participate in this exciting initiative," said Catriona
LeMay Doan. "Over the
last 27 years, The Terry Fox Foundation has worked hard to
perpetuate Terry's legacy and I hope that through The Terry
Fox Foundation Celebrity Auction we can remind Canadians of
Terry's remarkable achievements and keep his dream alive."
The exclusive collector's item shoes have journeyed thousands
of
kilometres across Canada and the United States in a custom-made
protective
case. The case was escorted and hand delivered to each of
these great athletes
for their autograph, all of whom showed overwhelming excitement
and enthusiasm to participate, and many of whom shared their
own personal memories of Terry Fox as they added their signature.
The 12 pairs of signed 25th Anniversary Limited Edition Terry
Fox Replica
Shoes will be auctioned on eBay (www.ebay.ca/terryfox) for
10 days as part of a worldwide auction starting on August
31. Packaged in a limited edition
collector's case, each pair of the iconic indigo blue shoes
- with a map of
the Marathon of Hope on the sole liner - will be accompanied
by a Certificate
of Authenticity.
The 25th Anniversary Terry Fox Limited Edition Replica Shoe,
called the
Orion TF, is true to the 1979 model that Terry ran in for
42 kilometres
(26 miles) a day, for 143 days straight. On April 12, 1980
he set out to fight
the cancer that took one of his legs. His goal was to cover
the country from
east to west and raise $1 for every Canadian. But on September
1, his journey
ended prematurely in Thunder Bay, Ontario. His run may have
ended after
5,565 kilometres (3,339 miles), but his memory and mission
lives on each year
as millions of Canadians support Terry Fox Runs across the
country and around the world.
The first Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research was organized
in 1981 in
conjunction with the Canadian Cancer Society. In 1988, The
Terry Fox
Foundation became an independent trust and has continued to
pursue Terry's
dream of finding a cure for cancer. To date, The Terry Fox
Foundation has
raised over $400 million dollars for cancer research. This
year, the Terry Fox
Run for cancer research will take place on September 16 across
Canada and in 40 countries around the world. Visit www.terryfoxrun.org
for more information on the September 16 National Terry Fox
Run, the September 14 Terry Fox at Work Day, the September
28 National School Run Day or to make a pledge to The Terry
Fox Foundation to help find a cure for cancer.

| Forget the Popemobile - here's the Popecycle
Thursday, August 23, 2007
If there's one thing that the late Pope John Paul II was synonymous
with, it wasn't motorcycles.
But that hasn't stopped a New York motorcycle shop creating
a customised chopper dedicated to him. The bike is now going
to be auctioned off on eBay for charity.

The late Pontiff – who generally preferred to commute
by Popemobile – inspired the customised bike, created
by the Orange County Choppers motorbike garage.
It is decorated with scenes from John Paul's life, his coat
of arms, religious imagery, and the colours of the Polish
flag. It cost around £30,000 ($60,000) to make.
The centrepiece of the design is the image of John Paul himself,
placed just below the handlebars so that he is constantly
gazing at the rider, who can't avoid looking back into the
ex-pope's eyes.
'We wanted to symbolize his greatness and to instil a great
sense of feeling and emotion and religious meaning,' said
Amanda LeBlanc, of Auctionwire, the company organising the
sale.
The bike will go on eBay from August 26, and is expected
to attract bids of around £100,000. The profits from
the sale will go to a Christian charity.

| First A380 flight on 25-26 October
Monday, August 20, 2007
Airbus and Singapore Airlines
have agreed to a delivery timetable for the first A380 aircraft.
The aircraft is planned for handover by Airbus to Singapore
Airlines on Monday 15 October at a ceremony
in Toulouse, France.
It will be configured with 471 seats in three classes: Economy,
Business and the new Singapore Airlines Suites: a class beyond
First.
Within a few days of delivery, the aircraft will fly to Singapore`s
Changi Airport: the world`s first A380 home airport. There
will be a short period set aside for crew and ground staff
familiarisation.
World aviation history will be made when the Singapore Airlines
A380 makes its First Flight - SQ380 - to Sydney`s Kingsford
Smith Airport on Thursday 25 October, and returns to Singapore
on Friday 26 October.
Singapore Airlines Chief Executive Officer, Mr Chew
Choon Seng, said the delivery would mark the beginning
of a new chapter for the aviation industry.
"Everyone at Singapore Airlines is keenly anticipating
the delivery of this new plane, and our people are working
hard on final preparation for its entry into service. The
first flight promises to be one of the most exciting occasions
in aviation history.
"We are overwhelmed by the support of the community
- from all over the world - for the charity auction. And I
would like to thank the many partners and service providers
that have followed the lead of our fuel supplier, ExxonMobil,
and eBay, in donating their services for the First Flight`s
charitable causes.
"While occasions like this are few and far between,
we hope this enthusiasm generates support for very worthwhile
causes," Mr Chew said.
Seats across all three classes will be auctioned on the global
online marketplace, eBay. There will be plenty of seats put
to auction, allowing many opportunities for travelers keen
to be part of history to join the First Flight experience.
For the new Singapore Airlines Suites, the A380`s First Flight
will be the first ever occasion to fly on what will be a product
that totally redefines luxury in the sky.
Entry into scheduled service will commence on the Sydney
route soon after the First Flight.
Charity Auction Starts 27 August
The auction of seats on the First Flight will commence on
Monday 27 August 2007. Seats in all three
classes will be sold progressively, across both legs of the
flight. Bids will be staggered to finish at various times
over a period of just over two weeks, with the auction cycle
being completed on 10 September 2007.
The auction will be for single, double and multiple seats
in each class.
All seats will be sold on a one-way basis, so people wanting
to fly on both legs of the First Flight will need to bid twice.
To participate in the auction, a bidder will need the following:
An eBay user ID ... it`s free and easy to get
The names and passport numbers of those travelling
For bids on packages in the premium classes (Business &
Suites), or bids over USD1,000 in Economy Class, pre-qualification

and gives bidders confidence they are bidding only against
genuine and pre-qualified bidders
Prequalification is initiated online. Singapore Airlines`
global auction management agency, Auctionwire, has developed
numerous ways for bidders to pre-qualify and lodge security
deposits for bids requiring pre-qualification.
All information on packages available, bid prequalification

Airlines website, singaporeair.com/a380.
100% of the proceeds of the auction will be donated to charities.

March 16, 17, And 18
Player-Used Autographed Sticks to be Auctioned for Breast
Cancer Research
WALLACEBURG, ON, March 7 /CNW/ - TPS Hockey today announced
its 2nd Annual Tribute to Hockey Moms, taking place March
16, 17, and 18. With the success of last year's inaugural
campaign, which raised over $150,000 USD for breast cancer
research, TPS - along with other stick manufacturers - will
once again be painting the rink pink. NHL players will use
special edition pink sticks featuring the pink ribbon - the
internationally recognized symbol in the fight against breast
cancer in practices, pre-game warm-ups and games throughout
the weekend. Autographed pink sticks will be auctioned off
on eBay from March 17 until April 4 to raise money for breast
cancer research.
"Losing my mom to breast cancer was the hardest thing,"
says Mike Comrie of the Ottawa Senators. "Over the years
I've scored what I thought were big goals, but to score a
goal last year using the pink stick for my Mom will always
be the greatest for me." Dwayne Roloson of the Edmonton
Oilers adds, "My Mom is like the goal post, I'm always
using her for support." "She and the rest of the
moms of any sport deserve to be recognized.
" The limited edition hockey sticks will be autographed

Wayne Gretzky, coach and owner of the Phoenix Coyotes adds:

or how they got there. My mother would have been very proud."
"We are extremely pleased to the have the support of
the NHLPA, NHL, and
the Canadian Cancer Society for the 2nd Annual Tribute Weekend,"
says TPSChairman Paul Walker. "It is our honour to help
in any way we can, and show how a little pink can go a long

22, 2006 - Press Release- Anonymous Canadian Wins Bid For
Oldest Hockey Stick
For
the modest sum of $2.2 million, what's believed to be the
oldest hockey stick in existence is now the property of an
anonymous Canadian buyer.
And despite spending all that money
on what has the potential to be a great conversation piece,
they've agreed to put the stick, believed to have been carved
between 1852 and 1856, on display in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
Gord Sharpe, the stick's previous owner,
was relieved to learn the buyer is Canadian. It's a family
heirloom that's been in his possession since he was nine.
There were 26 bids submitted from around
the world and inquiries were fielded from places including
Dubai, Australia and Germany. There were more than 20,600
visits to Ebay from people interested in learning about and
perhaps bidding on the stick.
"When the bid came in, I didn't
know if it was from a Canadian," Sharpe said.
"I feel a lot better now that
I know it was purchased by a Canadian."
Sharpe's $2.2 million will go to fanscharity.com
and its World Charity Award program, both run by Sharpe with
the goal of promoting the importance of charities and awareness
of charities among children.
"I can still see the stick if
I want in the Hall, and it meant a lot of money going towards
our charity programs," Sharpe said. "That was more
important than keeping it."
Sharpe lives near Cobourg, Ont., and
says the stick was carved by Alexander Rutherford Sr. and
handed down to him by his great uncle Melville Rutherford,
who owned a farm near Lindsay, Ont.
The Hockey Hall of Fame hasn't confirmed
that Sharpe's stick is the oldest, but did provide an "authentication
facts" for sticks of that era. The oldest stick on display
in the Hall today is from 1881.
But David Romeo of Auctionwire, the company handeling the sale said it's the real deal and was viewed
by several appraisers. This charity auction on eBay has been confirmed by eBay as the most expensive charity item ever sold on eBay.
"It was recognized as the oldest
known hockey stick," he said. "The stick looks archaic
but there is something special about it - it has many elements
about it that are still used in modern stick design such as
its one-piece construction, however they weigh a lot less."
Prior to the auction, Sharpe's stick
was on display in a glass case in Wayne Gretzky's downtown
Toronto restaurant, and he said an private appraiser valued
it at $4.25 million, meaning the new owner got a great deal.
The stick was originally to be sold
six years ago, but was withdrawn after the Sept. 11, 2001,
terrorist attacks because Sharpe felt it was inappropriate
to be auctioning for his charities while monies were being
collected to aid victims and their families.

22, 2006 - Press Release-
Oldest hockey stick sells for 2.2 million dollars
MONTREAL
(AFP) - The world's oldest ice hockey stick, a hickory shaft
carved in the 1850s, sold for 1.9 million dollars US (2.2
million Canadian) here and will be displayed at the Hockey
Hall of Fame.
An anonymous Canadian man made the winning bid in an internet
auction purchase, according to 45-year-old seller Gord Sharpe,
an Ontario man who has owned the family heirloom since he
was nine.
David Romeo of Auctionwire, said the stick is among the most important
items in hockey and the most expensive charity item ever sold on eBay.
We are very excited to have been involved in the sale and that it beat all estimates. This is a testimate to how Auctionwire can really help increase the value of items by integrating auctions into an online event," said Joshua Gold CEO of Auctionwire.
"The buyer was a private individual,
a Canadian, who wants to remain anonymous. He told us that
he plans to have the stick over at Hockey Hall of Fame and
to keep it there until he decides what he's going to do,"
Romeo said.
"For now he wants to keep it in
Canada."

13, 2006 - Press Release-
World's oldest hockey stick for sale
OTTAWA (AFP) - The world's oldest hockey stick, carved in
Canada between 1852 and 1856 and worth an estimated 4.25 million
US dollars, is being auctioned off for charity, its owner
told AFP.
Described as the "single most
important piece of hockey memorabilia in existence,"
it was carved a century and a half ago by owner Gordon Sharpe's
great uncle's grandfather, Alexander Rutherford Senior.
Sharpe received it as a gift from his
great uncle when he was nine years old and held onto it for
35 years, he said.
It survived a basement flood in Peterborough
where it was once stored, a few children's hockey practices
and even rough stick-handling by a National Hockey League
team chief, Sharpe said.
Phoenix Coyotes general manager Cliff
Fletcher grabbed and flexed the stick when it was on display
at hockey legend Wayne Gretzky's restaurant in Toronto, Sharpe
explained.
"My father and uncle used it when
they were young, but the puck they used back then was frozen
cow dung," he said. "I also took it to a practice
when I was 10 years old. I could take a wrist shot with it
and put it in the net."
Of course, that was before he knew
its value.
The stick was authenticated almost
a decade ago by experts at the Hockey Hall of Fame, Sharpe
said, and has been enclosed in a metal and glass display case
since.
"An appraiser I dealt with had
just sold some vintage French candle holders for two million
dollars and said to me: 'What do you think the world's oldest
hockey stick is worth?'" he quipped.
Sharpe is selling the stick now because
he can no longer afford to insure it, he said.
Online auctioneer eBay.com will entertain
bids until December 21, with a reserve bid of two million
US dollars, for the stick.
So far, a dozen people have placed
bids, including two multinational sports clothing makers,
said David Romeo, an agent handling the sale for Sharpe.
Proceeds from the sale will go to charity,
he said.
Hockey was first played in Canada in
the 1800s. Early paintings and writings depict the game being
played on frozen ponds, lakes and rivers in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland,
Ontario and the Northwest Territories.
But most sports historians agree the
first modern game with codified rules was played in Montreal's
Victoria Rink on March 3, 1875. It ended in a brawl, according
to reports.
Canada's former governor general, Lord
Stanley of Preston, whose sons and daughter became hockey
enthusiasts, purchased a decorative bowl for use as a trophy
in 1892 to recognize the country's best team.
The trophy, which became known as the
Stanley Cup, was first awarded the following year to the champion
amateur team, the Montreal AAA.
It continues to be awarded today to
the National Hockey League's championship team each year.
Sharpe's hockey stick is about 60 years
older than the league.
The old stick's lie -- the angle of
the blade to the stick -- is exactly the same as for most
new sticks, Sharpe noted.
"It's surprising that after 150
years, hockey sticks haven't changed much, except for the
thickness of the blade." he said.
The blade is also curved a bit suggesting
it was made for a left-handed shooter, he said.

You know Dasher and Dancer – but who’s the most
famous reindeer of all?
* Celebrity signed reindeer now available on eBay to raise
funds for Virgin Unite
(TORONTO, ON) December 8, 2006 - Santa’s reindeer are
facing some serious competition this holiday season, as celebrities
ranging from Buck 65 to Alexisonfire and Sir Richard Branson
herd together to create the “most famous reindeer”
of all. Convinced that Rudolph can be outdone, Virgin Mobile
Canada gathered more than 80 celebrities to put their artistic
skills to the test and decorate a collection of reindeer that
will be sold on eBay. Proceeds will go to Virgin Unite, the
charitable arm of the Virgin Group.
“We’re taking the reins
this holiday season and bringing together people from around
the world to support Virgin Unite and those less fortunate,”
says Sir Richard Branson, CEO of the Virgin Group and founder
of Virgin Mobile. “To do that, we’re having a
bit of fun and challenging Canadians to think beyond Rudolph
and support a reindeer that will become famous in more ways
than one.”
Celebrities were invited by Virgin
Mobile to personalize reindeer with their own artistic flare,
so they can be sold on eBay for Virgin Unite. More than 80
inflatable reindeer will be personalized by celebrities such
as Panic! at the Disco, OKGO, Perez Hilton, Billy Talent,
Meatloaf , De La Soul and many more. For those who want to
look but can’t bid enough to touch, some celebrities
also created video interviews that will be posted on eBay
and other online video sites. The videos give fans a chance
to see the creative process that went into personalizing the
reindeer and allow them to witness a bit of the fun that celebrities
had along the way. There will also be one, 20 foot tall, inflatable
reindeer up for bid - for those who want decorations that
are larger than life.
To bid on one of the reindeer and help
it gain the coveted position of “most famous”
or check out video interviews, Canadians can visit www.ebay.com/virginunite.
Celebrity participation and video interviews were secured

customer acquisition Auctionwire has been able to positively prove
that Auctionwire is the best strategy to use when companies
want to increase the value of the goods they sell. "We
do it better, faster and return a higher dollar value than
any other method out there. Over the last two months we have
seen an increase of over 63.5% back into the hands of our
customers vs. traditional methods," said Joshua Gold, CEO of Auctionwire. After
holding over 100 Auctions we have exceeded our customer's
expectations and proven that Auctionwire's business is real
and the value returned to our clients is real." "At
first I was somewhat skeptical about the true value or if
I could go at it alone- but these guys are good. They provided
me with a great return and proved that this is something our
firm needs to look at seriously. After further discussions
we have added Auctionwire to our full time sales channel",
said Gloria, who under terms of the agreement does not want
the company name used at this time. "We have been selling
through our regular channels for years- this is new, it works
and the bottom line revenue is better than what we have seen
in the past.
This
is another great win for the Company- Said Josh Gold, founder
of Auctionwire. Our team is excited and we are excited to
be praised in such a fashion. We look forward to a long and
successful relationship.

31, 2004
Toronto,
Canada. March 31, 2004--Auctionwire today announced the launch
of a new concept that leverages eBay's™; global marketplace.
Simple and convenient, Auctionwire lets anyone sell goods
on eBay (Nasdaq:EBAY) by simply dropping them off or by scheduling
a pickup. Customers take their new or used items to Auctionwire
and the company takes care of professional photography, eBay
listing, payment processing, shipping and returns. Once sold,
the customer receives a check in the mail.
"We've
created the easiest way to leverage eBay," said Joshua Gold,
founder and CEO of Auctionwire. "You don't need any experience.
You don't even need a computer. Just call us and our knowledgeable
staff does all the right things to sell it on eBay at the
highest price."
No
payment is necessary, as Auctionwire makes its money by taking
a variable commission on the sale. Customers can bring in
anything that is legal to sell on eBay and can be shipped
by UPS or FedEx (under 150 lbs. with some size restrictions).
Auctionwire will evaluate it, photograph it, write a description
and list it on eBay at exactly the right time to get the best
sale price. Once the auction ends, Auctionwire takes care
of payment processing and shipping, and sends a check to the
customer. If an item doesn't sell the first time, Auctionwire
lists it again for free. If it doesn't sell the second time,
the customer can choose to have it returned or have it automatically
donated to charity for a tax deduction.
"There
are millions of dollars of extra things sitting in people's
homes around the Toronto Area," said David
of Auctionwire. "We make it easy for people to turn those
things into cash. In this economy, we think that's important."
"Auctionwire
focuses on helping individuals and corporations sell their
extra things and leverage the eBay marketplace. Auctionwire
also assist people who are moving to sell things they don't
want anymore and we work with Charities and schools to help
raise money for their organizations through Live Auctionwire
Drives," said Joshua.
